Moon Cakes

Bennett and his classmates spent today's Chinese class making moon
cakes in preparations for Mid-Autumn Festival( 中秋节). For the Chinese
it is a very important time to travel home and spend the week with
family. For us, it is a very important time because we are expecting
a visit from Grandpa Tom and Lucy, followed by a visit from Meemaw and
Pop-pop. The boys have the week off from school and Joanne's work is
closed as well, leaving us plenty of opportunity to take in the
Beijing sights with Tom and Lucy.

Some notes on 中秋节

China's Mid-Autumn Festival is traditionally celebrated on the
fifteenth day of the eighth lunisolar month (see Mid-Autumn Festival
Dates), which is in September or October. The festival is the second
most important festival after the Spring Festival to Chinese people.

of the country and the world to meet their family and have dinner with

Haka Boys

Devon and Bennett performed the Haka in front of the school for
International Day Friday. They studied the dance for five weeks and
loved the performance.
